County of Iredell issued the following announcement on Dec. 20.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Lake Patrol Unit was chosen by Santa Claus to escort him in the Northern Lights Boat Parade on Lake Norman.
Santa told our Lake Patrol Deputies he was worried about his Reindeer getting the sleigh and toys wet, so he asked our deputies to give him a ride on our boat. How could we say no to Santa??
Santa whistled and shouted to the reindeer as he took off back to the North Pole. On Dasher, and Dancer, now Prancer and Vixen, on Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen, and light the way, Rudolph.Just as he took off, Santa turned and smiled and told our Lake Patrol Deputies he would be back soon to visit all the good little boys and girls of Iredell County on Christmas Eve!
