County of Iredell issued the following announcement on Dec. 20.

Please join us in welcoming the newest Iredell County Sheriff's Office Deputies. From left to right: Gunnell, Read, Fogle, Ferguson, Bumgarner, Sheriff Campbell, Padgett, Welborn.

Detention Deputy Adam Gunnell completed Basic Law Enforcement Training at Surry Community College after graduating from Yadkin Early College.

Detention Deputy Shaun Read completed Basic Law Enforcement Training at Surry Community College after graduating from North Wilkes High School.

Detention Deputy Michael Fogle served in the United States Army for 13 years and moved to North Carolina. He recently completed Basic Law Enforcement Training at Mitchell Community College.

Deputy Patrick Ferguson graduated from Statesville Christian High School and then went to Appalachian State University to study Criminal Justice. He completed Basic Law Enforcement Training at Mitchell Community College and will be joining the C Shift Road Patrol Unit.

Deputy Darin Bumgarner is coming to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, having over 16 years of law enforcement experience. Bumgarner will be the first school resource officer at Mitchell Community College.

Deputy Benjamin Padgett graduated from North Iredell High School and then enrolled in the Marine Corps, where he served 4 years as a Military Police. He has recently completed Basic Law Enforcement Training at Mitchell Community College and will be joining the A Shift Road Patrol Unit.

Deputy Jason Welborn will be joining the B Shift Road Patrol Unit and brings over 19 years of law enforcement experience, including military police contracting, surrounding police departments, and private contracting.
