General Statement of Duties
This position is responsible for the day to day operations of an outdoor general park area, aquatic center, general campground park areas, or passive parks including County Farm. Supervises seasonal, year round, and part-time grounds and facilities staff. May supervise the work of staff in the assigned park, pool, and/or campground areas.
Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Leisure Studies and Recreation, Horticulture or related area: OR Associate's Degree in Leisure Studies and Recreation, Horticulture or related area and two years of experience in Parks & Recreation, Facility Maintenance or recreation program work: OR High School diploma or GED and four years of experience in Parks & Recreation Facility Maintenance or recreation program work.
Essential Duties & Tasks
- Supervises maintenance of grounds and facilities. Ensures the use of OSHA procedures and safe working practices, provide direction for maintenance staff, conduct weekly park inspections to look for safety hazards, areas that need repairs or improvement.
- Supervises seasonal employees and year round, part-time staff. Hires, trains, schedules, evaluates, disciplines, and terminates employees. Follow all county policies and procedures for Human Resource management.
- Assist in budgetary process by reviewing expenditures in areas of responsibility, helping prepare budget in those areas, review revenue, enforce county and state policies regarding financial management practices, work with staff to ensure compliance. Research grants and alternative funding sources.
- Provide excellent customer service to park patrons, while dealing with issues that arise.
- Performs related duties as required.
