Town of Jamestown issued the following announcement on Oct. 28.
The Town of Jamestown will be hosting a Planning Board meeting on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, at 6pm. There has been a request by D.R. Horton to rezone their property at the corner of Guilford College Rd. and Mackay Rd. They are also seeking annexation of that property, as was discussed at the two most recent Council meetings.
The Planning Board will hear the rezoning on Nov. 8th. The annexation request is scheduled to be heard by the Town Council on Nov. 16, 2021 (but will likely be continued). Annexation requests are not heard by the Planning Board, only the rezoning request, in compliance with state laws.
Agendas and the supporting packet documents are generally available on the Town's website a week prior to the meeting. However, staff have completed it early and have posted it at the link below for the public to access. The Town makes every effort to keep citizens informed. Notices have also been sent out to citizens living within 1,000 ft. of the subject property. This far exceeds the state law requirement of only notifying immediately adjacent property owners. The Town is interested in making sure that this process is fully transparent and that citizens have the correct information.
