The Guilford County Republican Party said that a school board candidate listed as unaffiliated changed her party status after she received enough signatures to run.
The Republican Party made its claim in an Oct. 14 Facebook post that also shows an image of the candidate, Deborah Lynn Napper, and a headline that states, "Napper caught."
"Guilford Board of Education candidate is on the ballot this cycle as an unaffiliated and leveraged the fact that she is unaffiliated to get signatures to be on the ballot," the county GOP wrote in the Facebook post says. "Once she received enough signatures to get on the ballot, she immediately transferred her registration to be a Democrat."
The organization questions why Deborah Lynn Napper would mislead voters, according to the Facebook post.
"This is a deceptive trick that she is using to appeal to moderate voters even though she is now a registered Democrat," the GOP post said. "In a post on Facebook, she has said she wants to be open and honest with voters, then why mislead the voters?"
