State Rep. Jon Hardister (R-Guilford) hailed several bills North Carolina lawmakers approved, including legislation that would offer respite to businesses forced to close due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Hardister posted to his Facebook on July 11 about Senate legislation, which he presented in the House, that allows businesses to delay the renewal of ABC permits, as well as a temporary refund if recent renewal fees were paid.
“This will provide a lifeline for businesses that have been required to close and are having a tough time financially,” Hardister posted.
In addition to other legislation targeting Medicaid reform, Hardister said the recent amendment of a 1952 law that made it illegal to wear hoods or masks in public by adding language that would permit face coverings in response to a public health emergency.
Hardister also discussed several attempted veto overrides that did not succeed, as well as calls by both House and Senate leadership for the North Carolina Court of Appeals to lift an injunction against the voter ID law that was passed into law by a voter referendum.
