Guilford County, Greensboro and High Point came together to place more restrictions on residents to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“Of course, during these stressful circumstances that we are all working through together, it’s no surprise that the county has been hearing from some concerned and disappointed citizens,” Jeff Phillips, chairman of the Guilford County Board of Commissioners, the News & Record reported on March 31.
The new rules added to restrictions from Gov. Roy Cooper's stay-at-home order and give citizens some ease. Real estate agents are now temporarily prohibited from holding open houses and in-person auto sales are also banned, according to the News & Record. Funerals are also limited to 10 people per room during a visitation.
Phillips said the support from most residents about the new restrictions has been encouraging to him.
“We have obviously made some unprecedented and very difficult decisions in an effort to better protect the health and safety of Guilford County residents and I’m finding that most citizens want to do their part to protect their families, their coworkers and our communities from further harm," Phillips told the News & Record.
