Guilford County ranked 19th out of 100 counties in North Carolina in funding more for its school operations based on its wealth than other counties in the state, according to a recent study.
Guilford County’s ranking was reported by Greensboro.com and based on an annual study by the Public Forum of North Carolina.
The 19th ranking comes for Guilford County’s “relative effort” in funding, which means the amount of money a county gives to its schools based on its ability to pay, reported by the News & Record.
While Guilford is the third-largest county in the state, it spent approximately as much as the two largest counties of Wake and Mecklenburg despite it having less than the ability to pay than they do.
