A Guilford County Sheriff's Deputy recently crashed his cruiser into a hill on his way to prevent a local man from setting his own house on fire, according to Fox 8 News.
The 911 call came in around 4:30 a.m. The deputy was responding to the call and lost control of his vehicle while going around a curve on Strawberry Road.
The official Guilford County Sheriff's Office news release states the accident happened just north of U.S. Highway 150 in Summerfield. Deputies say they are considering the cruiser a total loss.
The deputy who was involved in the wreck was taken to Moses Cone Hospital and discharged after suffering minor injuries.
The alleged arson, David Eric Callup, was detained and charged with setting fire to his home, Fox 8 reported.
