A new bill filed by State Rep. Tracy Clark in the North Carolina House seeks to provide financial support for major cultural and sporting events in Greensboro, according to the North Carolina State House.
The bill, filed as HB 623 on March 31 during the 2025 regular session, was formally listed with the short title: ‘NC Folk Fest and FIFA Funds.’

In essence, this bill appropriates $500,000 in nonrecurring funds from the General Fund for the 2025-26 fiscal year to the Office of State Budget and Management to be granted to the City of Greensboro. The allocation includes $250,000 for law enforcement, security, and transportation services as part of Greensboro’s role as a training camp host for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. An additional $250,000 is allocated for expenses related to the 2025 North Carolina Folk Festival. The act is set to become effective July 1, 2025.
